Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman who is a businesswoman. she is the current president and controlling owner of Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. The California native, Buss has been raised by an extremely wealthy family. Jerry Buss' father was an investor in real estate and later owned the Lakers and other sports companies. When her parents broke up in 1972 she felt that they had abandoned her. At 19 years old she joined the family business as the general manager for the Los Angeles Strings professional tennis team. Later, she established the Los Angeles Blades professional roller hockey team. The position she held was the president for Great Western Forum prior to becoming the vice-president of Lakers. Buss, her five brothers and sisters and their father who owned the Lakers and ruled them up to his passing away in 2013, received this ownership through an estate. They each were entitled to the same vote rights. She assumed the office of the President for the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also a co-owner in Women of Wrestling a pro-wrestling promotion headquartered in Los Angeles.
